Hotels vs Villas Villa rentals offer more space and lower cost than hotels It doesn't matter if it's a villa on Koh Samui Thailand with a swimming pool, a cottage in the English Lake District or a beachfront home in Hawaii. But from Paris apartments to tropical homes, villa rentals make a great deal of economic sense. Rentals are often cheaper than a comparable hotel room, and they provide far more space. There are many other advantages to renting a villa. While hotel rooms can be quite small, most rental villas come with at least two bedrooms, ideal for a family or two couples travelling together. |

The tropical island paradise of Koh Samui (Samui Island) is widely noted for its natural charm. It is the kingdom’s third largest island, and ranks among Thailand’s most popular tourist destinations. In 2007, the award-winning island welcomed 1,059,642 visitors — an increase of 2.82 per cent over the previous year. With ever-growing pressures on its natural resources, the islanders, especially tourism industry stakeholders, have taken a pro-active stance and are leading the charge to restore environmental quality. |

Holiday Villas Asia
Update on the Current Situation in Thailand We would like to reassure and update our valued guests and business partners on the current situation in Thailand.
Thailand is a Democracy and the recent demonstrations have been held in accordance with the spirit of the normal Democratic process.
Since the demonstrations have attracted substantial media attention we would like to reassure you on the following points: Within Bangkok all demonstrations have been limited to and contained within defined areas which are well away from the city centre and Tourism areas. With few exceptions demonstrations have been good natured and non violent.
As a result the police and authorities have seen no reason to impose any restrictions or extra precautions relating to freedom of movement such as curfews or any other restrictions, and in Bangkok the streets are calm and life goes on perfectly normally and safely.
There has been some disruption to air services at three airports in the South of Thailand but that has now ended. Backlogs of flights are being cleared and services are expected to quickly return to normal.
There is absolutely no need for concern regarding personal safety when visiting Thailand and it is not necessary to alter your travel plans. Sincerely yours, Holiday Villas Asia |

Samui to become ICT City A SEMINAR, aiming to convert the islands of Samui and Phangan an ICT city in order to provide faster and more efficient public service for the people, was held at the Samui Palm Beach recently.
Organized by the Commission of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in cooperation with representatives from the local government, the one day seminar attracted some 300 participants from different civic groups, student, teachers, and business operators on Koh Samui. ICT board president, Ronnaritthichai Kanket said the seminar was set up to support the policy of E-government indicated by the current government to provide efficient services for the people.
This involves upgrading the computer skills of those in the government as well as providing them the know how on e-government operation. |

Power shortage likely in 2 years Water supply lack in four years, too.
AUTHORITIES are gearing up for acute power and water shortages on the island. The demand for electricity within the next two years is expected to rise substantially to a point where current supply may not be enough, while the current water supply will satisfy demand only up to 2012.
Suratthani Gov. Vinai Baupradit has met with local officials of Koh Samui to discuss a plan for preventing a possible power shortage on the island. |
