Koh Samui Thailand Information

Against the backdrop of lush rain forested hills, the beaches of Samui stand out. It?s a great family vacation spot.  The swaying coconut palms play host to many white sandy beaches (unlike any other Thailand beach) where you can join other happy holidaymaker's as they frolic in the ever-present Samui sunshine. Or perhaps you would prefer to find one of the many quieter spots away from the crowds to soak up some peace and tranquility. The Island 's relative size allows you to greet the day with a spectacular sunrise or sit on the shores and toast the sun as it slowly and magnificently dips into the ocean at day's end.

In such a restful setting the temptation is simply to laze peacefully on the beach and soak up the tropical sun. But if you want more there are amenities for water sports, such as diving, windsurfing, jet ski rides and snorkeling. The coastal waters are exciting to explore and are especially rich in shoals of brightly colored fish and exotic coral formations. Koh Samui's International Golf Course is also a main recreational attraction. Ideal for your Thai golf holiday. Set in amongst the picturesque setting of tall coconut palmed fairways this internationally designed 18 hole course has stunning views of the surrounding gulf and mountain valleys. A Koh Samui map is available free of charge from all travel and tour outlets on the island.

Principal among Samui's natural sights are two picturesque waterfalls, Hin Lat and Na Muang. On neighboring Ko Fan, connected to Samui by a causeway,  is Wat Hin Ngu temple and meditation center.

Island hopping is another attraction and boats can be easily hired for trips to Ko Phangan (the nearest island to Samui), and to the smaller islands of Ko Tao and Ko Nang Yuan where beautiful bays with colorful coral formations offer excellent conditions for snorkeling.

A more adventurous full day excursion can be made to Ang Thong Marine Park, a group of 40 islands northwest of Samui.  Here you will see spectacular limestone formations, caves, blue lagoons, an inland salt water lake and amazingly beautiful deserted beaches.  Diving Thailand is a great way to experience at first hand the tropical underwater world.
